With online learning becoming more normalized, it’s easy to find ourselves feeling behind on work. It’s hard to manage online school and get into a regimen,
stressful times. I found a two-step plan to maximize your week while also leaving you less stressed in the process. Keep in mind that this is what works best for me, and not everyone functions the same way. That being said, I’ve greatly reduced my anxiety about school, due dates, meetings, etc.
Firstly, I start planning my week on a blank piece of paper. I make a grid and leave some space for each day of the week. I first write down all lectures I have to watch or attend to, then make note of any assignments that are due in the week. I make a list of all my assignments that I need to get done for the week, making sure I spread them out evenly.
After I plan out my mandatory assignments and meetings, I make a checklist of everything I need to study for the week. For example, I’ll write down that I need to do a few pages of orgo practice problems on the days that I don’t have orgo lectures. This lets me practice orgo every day without feeling too overwhelmed.
And that’s basically it! The way I plan out my week is a combination of a checklist and a schedule; once you plan out your entire week, you can really visualize how much work you have and how much free time you will have as well. Since I like to visualize things, making a weekly schedule has greatly improved the way I look at my workload. I typically make my list on Fridays or Saturdays, so I can plan the whole week in advance. Sometimes, I make my lists on excel to make it even more organized and aesthetically pleasing.
