Why I Love AMWA

AMWA was the first club I joined when coming to UF. Everyone tells you that when you go to college you should try to get involved in something as soon as possible. Trying to follow this advice I choose AMWA because I loved the resources and support that is offered. Now that I am a member of AMWA I love it and I think anyone with hopes of going into medicine should join.

The first reason I love AMWA is the amazing mentor/mentee program. My mentor is Makena and she has been so helpful and informative about things like getting research, shadowing and volunteering hours. These are things that all premeds stress about and having someone to ask for advice is really helpful. Not only does having a mentor give you a great person to ask for advice but it also guarantees that you will know someone at every GBM which makes going to the meetings a lot less stressful.

The next reason I love AMWA is because of their group studying opportunities. This opportunity allowed me to meet other members while getting my homework done. It also allowed a group of us to discuss the stress we are feeling in regards to Chemistry 2. Having this support and knowing that I wasn't the only one struggling really helped to keep me motivated going into the final for this class.

The final reason I love AMWA is because of the connections they have with the med school. Being a pre-med student it is very helpful to hear from people who have already successfully made it to med-school. AMWA not only allows you to meet people in the AMWA med school chapter but also admissions officers.

Overall AMWA is an amazing club with great opportunities that I can't wait to be apart of for the next 4 years. Anyone that is interested in AMWA should defiantly join because it is an amazing club with great people and resources to help you succeed throughout your medical journey.
